Understanding the Bible

The Bible remains a best seller, ever since first printed.

Its estimated published at over 9 billion times.

Anybody know what the world population is? No one really knows, somewhere around 5.5 billion moving to 8 billion by the year 2,010 with most of the growth in underdeveloped regions.

Strangely enough we in the developed nations apparently published more Bibles than we have people.

I wonder what we are doing wrong?

Only 33 percent of the world population is Christians with 4.5 percent being what we should consider easy targets, atheists. That means 1.6 billion Christians have or had access to 187 Bibles in their lifetime with which to spread the Gospel, something Acts 1:5 & 8 says we are called to do.

During the Old Testament time, estimates have it, only ten million people occupied the earth.

By the end of the first century or during the New Testament time there were 30 million estimated inhabitants or 30 times more than when Christ commanded the Saints to spread the Gospel to the farthest parts, placing the world occupant estimate at around 60 million at the close of the New Testament Books, which remember only lasted 200 yrs.

If you want to know more, read on.

Understanding the Bible, Part Two

Robbie L. Rogers

The longer we wait for Christ to come back the more prolific we are. According to my calculations if you multiply .03 times the number of years forward or backward you can get a close estimate of world population at any given time.

There are 12 main Eras to the Bible; we are only dealing with the Old Testament at present so lets ignore the three in the New Testament.  Look at the Corollary in part one. Remember the Eras shown on the chart list a very brief description of the who, where and story of each era so you can tell at a glance what era you are interested in reading or studying first.

The Old Testament took place in just over 2,000 years, we have 1,870 accounted for, maybe before we are through we will find where the other is.

Memory experts tell us we should chose symbols to remember important things, never have I heard how you are supposed to remember the symbols, however it seems to have an effect on the different motors in our brain, or a hand shaking agreement effect between our two brain spheres, the right or creative side and the left our logical side. But always remember believing and faith must move 18 inches lower to our heart.

You can chose what symbols you wish, Anders suggests picturing an archway of stones with each Era's symbol cast in the stone with each era being shaped sort of like a keystone except the first and last stones, they are foundation stones.

The New Testament or the last 3  ERAs are are: Gospels, Church and Missions, remembering 30 Days to Understanding the Bible is not used in Seminary. We simply use it to get a better or at least a more simple picture in our mind, one that can help us remember how it all fits together better in a broad or comprehensive overview from which you may gain a more complete understanding in the years to come.

Anders uses a picture of the earth being created for the first Era; a Patriarch, a man carrying a Sheppard's staff for the second Era; Egypt or a Pyramid for three; two swords crossed for conquest or four; a judge's gavel for five; a king's crown for six; shackles for seven; an old testament traveler for eight; and a scroll for nine. The New Testament, if you want to complete your picture of the archway is ten, the cross; eleven, the church; and twelve a new world.

THE ARCHWAY OF UNDERSTANDING GOD'S WORD

6    CROWN (Kings)            (Exile) SHACKLES    7

5    GAVEL (Judges)                      (Return) TRAVELER    8

4      SWORDS  (Conquest)                       (Silence) SCROLL   9

                  PYRAMID   (Exodus)                                   (Gospels)  CROSS 10

2    ABRAHAM  (Patriarch)                                     (Church) CHURCH 11

1   WORLD (Creation)                                        (Missions)  NEW WORLD 12

The basic movement for God's people, remembering the where from the corollary is from: Eden to Canaan to Egypt to Canaan to Babylonia to Jerusalem.  Which is sort of like moving from Beaumont to San Angelo to El Paso to San Angelo to Houston to San Antonio all in Texas and taking 2,000 years to do it.

Remember Israel and Canaan are virtually the same geographic location.
